Optimization of Vehicle Trajectories Considering Uncertainty in Actuated Traffic Signal Timings

Published in Transportation Research Board (TRB) 102nd Annual Meeting, 2023

This research presents a comprehensive approach to optimizing vehicle trajectories for connected vehicles approaching actuated traffic signals under uncertain timing conditions. The methodology incorporates stochastic optimization techniques to handle the inherent uncertainty in signal phase and timing (SPaT) information. The approach demonstrates significant improvements in fuel efficiency and travel time reduction while maintaining safety constraints. The research contributes to the development of eco-driving systems for connected and automated vehicles in real-world traffic environments.
